Imagination (a.k.a. Giraffe Wars)

Many people know my affinity for giraffes and were not surprised that animals were the theme of the nursery. My college pal Krista is currently living in South Africa and she picked the girls up some gorgeous hand-made giraffes and mailed them while in the States over the holidays. Since they have such contrasting colors, they caught the girls' attention early on and would be a toy we would put out for them to "play" with. Bill's imagination is much more vivid though and "giraffe wars" started and has continued with a new installment just about every Saturday morning.

While they are still ongoing (primarily via Bill's facebook page), I wanted to capture them here with a pledge to post more frequently so you can follow along. We hope his imagination is this vivid when the girls get older and are more than mere pawns in his games :)

Giraffes 2; Twins 0

Twins vs giraffes, part II - The peace process appears to have been a success considering everyone is cuddling now.
Twins vs. Giraffes part III - Giraffes bring in reinforcements and the Happy Apple comes to the rescue.

Giraffes won this round easily.
Knowing the giraffes could strike at any moment, the girls seek council from General Happy Apple. As you can see, they have donned body armor with what appears to be wings.

The coalition of the nursery has been assembled. They are ready.
Knowing naptime was approaching, the giraffes wisely delayed their assault.
The time was now right.

The surge came from the west and was led by the brillant mutant purple giraffe (rumored to be from outer space).

With most of his army asleep, Bear (mostly a peace-loving Teddy) was quickly overwhelmed by the nimble giraffes.
Bear was taken to the infamous Vibrating Bouncie Chair prison. We are told he actually likes it there.

After being captured the Happy Apple was not as fortunate as Bear. He faced interrogation using the dreaded Apple Corer.
Emily put on a giraffe disguise and successfully infiltrated their headquarters. The Happy Apple was rescued before any serious coring took place.
Addison with her two new bodyguards. Life in the nursery has been rough lately.
The girls have a new ally. Obese no neck giraffe has defected from his own kind after years of abuse and ridicule.

Addison tells Noneck that in their socialist paradise everyone is treated equally (they are still young and idealistic) and that he is welcome to stay.
